On The Ground
At the center of the Airshow was a ‘Cold War Legacy’ pop-up museum, which honored Mather Air Force Base’s integral role in the Cold War and efforts such as the Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis, and Vietnam War. Attendees took in informational exhibits, enjoyed the costumed reenactors, and were able to get up-close to Cold War-era aircraft throughout the event. Beale Air Force Base created a massive ‘Recce Town’ exhibit to explore while the massive airframes of Travis Air Force Base drew enthusiastic crowds to the north end of the ramp. There was something for everyone, and no matter where you turned, attendees experienced first-hand the power, technology, and art of aviation.
